Currently in the state of Iowa, there are only about seventy teaching jobs available. However, there will be numerous teaching positions opening up soon due to the teachers in the "Baby Boomers" generation retiring. Generally these job offers come from grades 7-12, otherwise known as high school, but there are also a few elementary school openings as well, including kindergarten. Most of the positions or subjects wanted include: mathematics, science, or teaching children in special education. There are also a few other openings, ranging from teaching choir to teaching English to teaching art.

The teaching salaries in Iowa are typically between 30k and 46k. These salaries depend on how much experience the teacher has under his or her belt, and what kind of degree he or she has obtained. If the teacher has more than three years of experience, he or she can expect a better salary. With a bachelor's degree, the experienced teacher could make up to 38k a year. A teacher with a master's degree could earn 42k a year, and he or she with a doctorate degree could earn up to 46k a year.

A teacher with little to no experience with a bachelor's degree could only earn around 30k a year while he or she with a master's can earn at least 33k a year. But even with a doctorate degree, a teacher with hardly any experience can't expect to earn more than 37k a year. Experience is definitely key to having a satisfied long-term career in teaching.

Although these numbers may not be what someone looking for a teaching job expected, he or she must not forget about the benefits that come with being a teacher. Such benefits include: long-term disability, full dental, quality health insurance, and all holidays off.

Since school is usually only in session for about 10 months, teachers are not payed for a full year's work. Some teachers even get jobs during the summer so that they can have a flowing sum of money supporting them at all times. Teachers looking to relocate in Iowa should also keep in mind the low living costs and gas prices before deciding against a teaching career in that state.

The hiring outlook for Iowa may not look very bright in the present, but there will be multiple openings in teaching positions in the near future, once again due to the "Baby Boomers" generation beginning to retire.
